What is the Lo Shu Grid?
The Lo Shu Grid is a 3×3 magic square from Chinese tradition in which every row, column, and diagonal adds up to 15. In numerology it is used as a chart: digits from a date of birth are written into their fixed cells, and the pattern of filled and empty cells is read as a summary of that date.
The fixed layout used here, top row first, is:
| 4 | 9 | 2 |
| 3 | 5 | 7 |
| 8 | 1 | 6 |
How the grid is built
- Write the date as day, month, and full year, and take every digit from 1 to 9. Zeros are skipped.
- Add the Driver and Conductor numbers to that list.
- Write each digit into its cell. A digit that occurs twice appears twice in its cell.
- Cells that stay empty are the missing numbers.
Worked example: 25 August 1994
The date digits are 2, 5, 8, 1, 9, 9, 4. The Driver Number is 7 and the Conductor Number is 2, so the digits placed are 2, 5, 8, 1, 9, 9, 4, 7, 2.
The number 2 appears twice and 9 appears twice. The numbers 3 and 6 are missing.
What each number means in the Lo Shu Grid
These are traditional Lo Shu readings, offered for reflection rather than as facts about anyone. A repeated number is usually read as that quality being stronger.
| Number | When present | When missing |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Communication and self-expression | May find it harder to put feelings into words |
| 2 | Intuition, sensitivity and cooperation | May be less patient or less tuned in to others |
| 3 | Imagination, memory and creative thinking | May doubt their own ideas or creativity |
| 4 | Practicality, order and discipline | May find routine and organisation harder |
| 5 | Balance, willpower and stability (the centre of the grid) | May find it harder to stay focused and balanced |
| 6 | Home, family and a sense of responsibility | May feel less tied to home duties, or worry more about them |
| 7 | Learning from experience and spiritual interest | May take longer to learn life lessons, often through setbacks |
| 8 | Attention to detail and good money sense | May be careless with details or finances |
| 9 | Ambition, idealism and helping others | May lack drive or a clear sense of purpose |

Frequently asked questions
Why are Driver and Conductor numbers added to the grid?
Many Indian numerology sources place the Driver and Conductor numbers in the grid together with the birth-date digits. This calculator follows that convention and lists exactly which digits were placed.
What happens to zeros in the date?
The grid has no cell for 0, so zeros are ignored. For example, 10-10-2000 places only the 1s and the 2.
Does a missing number mean something is wrong?
No. Every grid has some missing numbers; most people are missing several. Traditional readings treat missing numbers as areas to be aware of, not as faults or predictions.
Are Lo Shu Grid predictions accurate?
The grid is a traditional way of reading the digits of a date of birth. Its readings describe tendencies for personal reflection; they are not predictions, and no numerology chart can tell the future.
What are the remedies for a missing number?
Remedies such as colours, metals, crystals or keeping certain objects at home vary from one numerologist to another, and none of them are scientifically proven. This calculator does not prescribe remedies; if you want them, consult a numerologist you trust.
Is my date of birth stored or sent anywhere?
No. The grid is built in your browser and your date of birth is not uploaded or stored by HifiAstro.
